Reviewing a plan from the bubble economy era
This park started out as a resort development project during the economic bubble in Japan. After the economic recession, our involvement began with suggesting a new approach to the project.
Hand-made ecotopia
Our proposal was to make hand-made park, one that is program oriented and is different from the usual facility oriented parks. Our goal aims to create a hand-made ecological utopia that is sustainable environment.
Demonstration workshop, and the Earth Design School
Since the beginning of the project, Earth Design School was formed as an open workshop providing programs such as “earth and architecture, pizza oven and paper making. These hands-on activities still continue at the park. Along with work planning, our role in the project was to spread knowledge, potential to ignite the program. As a result, approximately 40 to 50 workshops have been proposed from the citizens and have taken place in the park.
In search for a new type of public project with small investment
Since the economic recession, it has become more difficult for government to spent billions of yen toward construction. Action programs such as workshops on the existing site will help increase the activity and use of the parks by the citizens. Products made in workshops can also be used as park facilities, for example Forest that experienced workshops tend to have more blossoms and ecological diversity
Self-Build
Now in our work with park management, we are in process of hand-made park construction. As a leader in the self-build construction field, we are involved in design and construction with park ideals in mind.
