Revitalization of the Town is tourist attraction or leisure of the residents?
The Mawaki ruin is a rare case in Jyomon ruin. It was a long term settlement that prospered for 4000 years in the Jyomon era. The historical properties were used as a main attraction for the revitalization of the town, and its initial goal as a facility was to attract tourist. However, the facility should also serve to entertain the local residents. So, both a hot spring bath facility and a playground were prepared for older people and children.
Co-operation with architects
The hot spring bath house was designed in co-operation with architecture firm, Atelier ZO. The building and the park blend to make a unified space. The result was highly praised and together with Atelier ZO we received the first Ishikawa Prefecture Town Making Award for this project.
Jyomon motif which ties entire expression of history and culture
Jyomon design was employed to express history and culture of the place.
